2016 Bull Sale Report

04th Jun 2016

Despite the terrible weather forecast a crowd of 100 braved the rain the to attend the 2016 Alumy Creek Angus Bull Sale. A good mix of repeat and new buyers locally and across a very wide area supported the sale. 35/ 39 Bulls offered sold on the day, for an average of $5300, up $1000 on last year and a top price of $9000 on 3 occasions. Elliot McKinnon, Lyncote, Hunter Valley purchased two of the top priced $9000 bulls, Lots 3 Alumy Creek Upshot K81 and Lot 5 Alumy Creek Upshot K39, as well as Lot 9 Alumy Creek Earnan K49 for $6000 and Lot 10 Alumy Creek Upshot K55 for $7000. He said he was chasing quality genetics with the potential to command premium prices from the market. Last year he said he was payinfg more for similar quality to the bulls he was able to obtain for very affordable prices in Tenterfield.

The third top price $9000 bull was purchased by Mike Benn, Berrington Cattle Co for Lot 4 Alumy Creek Earnan K28. Mr Benn is a repeat buyer who regularly produces sale topping Angus at local weaner sales.

EXAR Upshot and Connealy Earnan genetics were in demand and a large contingent of bulls headed down the north coast, even though buyers had to content with very heavy rainfalls on the day to attend the sale. Great feedback on the consistent quality of the sale draft and an appreciation of our breeding program. A big thanks to all for the team effort it takes to pull together a successful sale.
